What is exaggerated content ads?

What is exaggerated content and why do ads get rejected or banned because of this type of content?

Exaggerated content ads are advertisements that contain statements or claims that are overly exaggerated or sensationalized in order to grab the viewer's attention. These ads often use hyperbolic language, make unrealistic promises, or present a distorted view of reality in order to persuade viewers to take a particular action, such as buying a product or visiting a website.

Example:

  • An ad that claims a certain supplement can cure a disease or achieve unrealistic weight loss goals without any evidence or scientific backing would likely be considered misleading and be rejected by TikTok.
  • An ad that claims a product is made from 100% natural ingredients without any scientific backing.

How to solve:

  • Remember not to make exaggerated promises about a product or service, misrepresent the benefits of a product or service, or make false statements about the effectiveness or safety of a product,…
  • Advertisers must ensure that all claims made in their ads are accurate and that they have evidence to back up these claims. Failing to do so can result in not only the rejection or removal of the ad, but also damage to the advertiser’s reputation.
